Autoneum is the world’s leading automotive supplier for acoustic and thermal management in vehicles: The global BI project emerged with the introduction of SAP R3 and the resulting global and cross-functional reporting requirements. The choices were SAP BW, Oracle and Microsoft. After a fundamental evaluation with the participation of the CFO, Finance & Controlling, HR, IT and Purchasing departments, it was decided to meet the requirements with a global Microsoft Enterprise Datawarehouse and generally with Microsoft BI from a corporate strategy point of view.

THE SOLUTION AT A GLANCE
Under these premises, the goals for our global BI project were also largely clear. One of the goals was to provide a standardised, interactive and consistent BI reporting and self-service BI tool landscape, globally and based on Microsoft. The main aim is to be able to evaluate data from different functions and across the board. As a result, the first step was to load data from accounting, consolidation, cost accounting and production into the Enterprise Data Warehouse (E-DWH). Based on this, a centralised OLAP datamart was created for power users and ad-hoc evaluations. Further datamarts are derived from the E-DWH for special requirements. Thus, the “single point of truth” approach is always maintained.
PROJEKT HIGHLIGHT
The introduction and implementation of the International Business Communication Standards (IBCS) in board and management reporting was a priority objective. «Focus on what really matters» – Conceptional, perceptual und semantic rules characterise the entire reporting system. Essential here is the support for colour and notation concepts as well as the standardisation of graphic representations.
